“GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday.”
Wildlife Habitat Canada has been providing grant funding to conservation organizations for 35 years – and one thing we’ve noticed is that small(er) organizations need our help too. So, WHC launched the Community Conservation Action Program (CCAP), a grant funding program geared towards helping grassroots conservation organizations that want to make a difference in their communities.
The response from the conservation community has been astounding! In its first year, CCAP received funding requests totalling 5 times more than the amount available. It is clear that there is a lot of work to do!
We have 25 additional projects lined up that we want to fund, but we need your help. 100% of your donation on GivingTuesday will directly support the CCAP, which means that more organizations will receive the funding that they need to move forward with innovative projects, such as interactive mobile nature apps, providing tools that help Indigenous youth to introduce their cultural roots into local conservation programming, or providing virtual conservation programming to students who cannot connect in-person, due to COVID-19.
