Every year Wildlife Habitat Canada holds an art competition to select the image for the Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp. The eligible bird for the 2011 Art Competition was the American Wigeon. The American Wigeon has a distinctive white forehead which has given it the common name “Baldpate”. It breeds primarily in northern and western Canada yet is found in other parts of the country during migration and in winter. The drake has a high piping whistle call.
