Wildlife Habitat Canada partnered with the Canadian Museum of Nature to host the Ottawa 2013 Get to Know Contest Launch on April 16, 2013.

“The annual Get to Know Contest invites youth to get outside and create original works of art, writing, photography, videography
and music inspired by nature.”  –

Students from Mr. Michael Levielle’s class at the St-Laurent Academy participated in the event that was held at the Canadian
Museum of Nature.

MacKenzie Hill, the 2012 Get to Know Contest winner of the 2013 Canadian Youth Habitat Conservation Stamp image, was in
attendance to speak to students about her art and to do a digital art demonstration.

Claude Thivierge, the artist who created the image for the 2013 Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp, was also in
attendance. Claude spoke to the class about his art and lead an interactive, fun sketching exercise.

While at the Museum of Nature, students also participated in the “Gross Anatomy” workshop.

Each student was given art materials and received a gift bag containing donated items from the Get to Know Program,
Claude Thivierge and Wildlife Habitat Canada, including the 2013 Canadian Youth Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp.
